Welcome to the EUROXR SUMMER SCHOOL! We are excited to present this year’s edition, a vibrant space for hands-on learning experience where you can explore the practical applications of eXtended Reality (XR).

The EUROXR SUMMER SCHOOL is an educational initiative organised by the European Association of eXtended Reality and the University of Salento's AVR Lab that combines academic excellence and practical insights in Extended Reality (XR). This year, the Summer School is part of a collaboration with the Erasmus+ project Alliance4XR, with the University of Thessaloniki, a member of the Alliance4XR consortium,  serving as the local organizer.

Join us in the picturesque city of Thessaloniki, Greece, from 22–26 June 2026, for an inspiring week of discovery and collaboration. You’ll have the chance to connect with global experts, industry leaders, and fellow learners as we dive into exciting applications of XR and AI in healthcare, cultural heritage, education, and industry.

This year’s edition places a strong focus on engineering applications of XR, exploring how immersive technologies are transforming fields such as construction and civil engineering, maritime engineering, and energy systems. Through a combination of theoretical sessions and hands-on project work, participants will gain practical experience in using XR for simulation, training, and design in real-world engineering contexts.

School’s Main Focus

As technology evolves, Extended Reality (XR) is becoming essential tools in shaping critical sectors like healthcare, education, industry and cultural heritage. These innovations don’t just enhance existing practices; they open new pathways to solve problems and create experiences that were once unimaginable.

Medicine involves diagnosing, treating, and preventing diseases, using research, clinical care, and technology to improve health and promote well-being.

HEALTHCARE

XR enables immersive medical training, while AI enhances diagnostics, predictive analytics, and personalized care.

EDUCATION

XR makes learning interactive and engaging, and AI creates personalized, inclusive experiences for all learners.

CULTURAL HERITAGE

XR reconstructs historical sites and artifacts, while AI analyzes and preserves cultural data for deeper understanding.

INDUSTRY

XR supports virtual prototyping, design, and collaboration, while AI powers automation, predictive maintenance, and supply chain optimization.
